Our Kids Film

The short film OUR KIDS aims to help Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities better understand how family members can themselves take the initiative in the family law system to protect children who are at risk.

OUR KIDS tells two stories of ordinary people who are encouraged to take their case to the Federal Circuit Court of Australia with the support of an Aboriginal case worker.

It is written and directed by award winning indigenous filmmaker, Larissa Behrendt AO and produced by Pursekey Productions (who produced “After the Apology”).

The film emphasises the need for early action when a family member becomes aware that a child is at risk. It explains the benefits offered by the family law system when capable family members take the initiative and can provide a parental role to children at risk.
